Foyers
Mission Statement
"To relieve poverty and enhance lifestyle prospects for single
homeless persons between the ages of 16 and 25 years by the
provision of safe, secure and comfortable accommodation and any
associated amenities."
Endeavour Foyer - mhs community charity's
capital project

The Endeavour Foyer is a supported
housing project which provides accommodation, access to training,
education and job search for disadvantaged young people aged
16-25.
Foyers offer a positive way forward
for young people in challenging circumstances, particularly as they
make the difficult transition from being a dependant person to
independent living.
The culture and ethos encourages an attainable alternative to
the benefits culture and the cycle of 'no job, no home' that
young people can often find themselves facing.
A conscious effort is made to maintain a balanced community
with a combination of young people in employment, training, at
college or working towards one of these goals. Some have higher
support needs than others, some are care-leavers, while others
are reasonably independent.
The activities for helping young people to prepare themselves
for work are comprehensive and numerous and include employment
training, help with preparing CVs, mock interviews, work
experience and inviting in local employers who can talk about
what's on offer and their expectations.
Springboard Foyer
The Springboard Foyer first opened its doors to young people in
March 2003 as the sister project to the Endevour. It is a
leading supported housing project for care leavers and young people
delivering a high quality service to its residents. The foyer
offers 24-hour support , and the services of a counsellor on a
weekly basis.
Similar of the Endeavour, the key aims are to provide
good quality, affordable, secure accommodation for young people
leaving the care system and opportunities also exist for other
disadvantaged single people between the ages of 16 and 25 who
are committed to accessing Employment, Education or Training.
The Springboard comprises of 9 single rooms over 3 floors. Each
room has a small shower room containing toilet, shower and hand
washbasin and is furnished with bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and
desk.
There is a fully equipped kitchen on each floor, a
meeting/dining room, lounge, utility room, office and a garden.
Each resident, in their first week, will acquire a personal
support and development plan. This will help them move in
small steps towards independent living, and onward to the
Endeavour foyer.
