How can I find the balance on my account?
The balance of your account can be obtained by telephoning our Contact team on 01634 565333, or by visiting our Chatham High Street office mhs express.  We may need to verify your identity and cannot give details to third parties without your permission.
You can also see your balance online by registering for my mhs homes.  Paper copies of the rent statement are sent out quarterly by post.

 

I am having trouble paying my rent, what should I do?
Contact mhs homes immediately on 01634 565333, we can discuss with you ways to pay your rent, enter into a repayment agreement and offer the assistance of our Welfare Benefit Advisors.

 

How do I make a claim for Housing Benefit?
Contact Medway Council for a claim form unless you have made a claim for JobSeekers Allowance or Income Support.  Forms can be obtained from Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Chatham, by telephoning 01634 332222 or by requesting a form on line.

What change of circumstances should I inform Housing Benefits of?
Generally you should inform Medway Council of any changes in income or savings, non dependants, children becoming 18, or absences of 13 weeks or more.  The rules are complex and will depend on your individual circumstances.

I've lost my job, what should I do?
You should register your claim for benefit by telephoning the Department for Work and Pensions on 0845 603 2953 and inform your Income Officer immediately.

 

I have been served with a Notice of Seeking Possession, what happens next?
The Notice of Seeking Possession is the first stage in mhs homes taking legal action.  You should contact us immediately to make an arrangement for clearing the arrears.  Don't ignore the notice - you could end up in court.  Remember we are here to help you.
