How long will a repair take?
Each job is given a time for the
work to be completed. The speed at which repairs are
completed depends of their priority. The times and categories
listed below give examples of the current different
priorities. The new priorities for repairs came into
force on 9th January 2012.
Emergency - 1 hour
- Any circumstance where there is an immediate structural or
serious services failure and/or danger to people's safety
- Major bursts and leaks where flooding is likely to occur
- Emergency repairs to damaged glass where security and/or safety
is involved, especially in communal areas
- Blocked WC (if only one in the property)
- Electrical failure to whole house or dangerous electric.
Emergency - Completion within 24 hours
- Leak requiring attention within 24 hours
- Broken glass other than that described under emergency
work
- Blocked drains generally
- Individual points, electrical appliances or fittings and lights
not working (heating or hot water).
Urgent - Completion within 5 working days
- All follow up works after emergency work
- Leaks on WC
- Blocked waste pipes, traps and gullies
- Leaking waste pipes, traps and gullies.
- Renewal of WC, wash basins, baths and sinks
- Renewal of cold water tanks, hot water cylinders and
boilers
- Glazing repairs
Routine - Completion within 20 working days
- All other works to include general roof repairs, faulty taps,
blocked and leaking gutters and rainwater pipes
- Repairs to internal doors and windows
- Defective flooring, including stairs, treads, risers and
handrails
- Defective plaster and plasterboard
- Repairs to fireplace
