Environment

mhs homes has a adopted an enthusiastic approach to energy efficiency and sustainability and has been successful in the improvements and developments it has made.

We have actively encouraged energy efficient measures in our homes through heating, insulation, energy efficient lighting and the installation of solar panels to heat water.

Every little helps and here are some suggestions how you can make a difference and save money at the same time!

  • Turn your lights off when the room is empty, fit an energy saving light bulb it will last ten times longer than an ordinary bulb;
    Switch off electrical appliances when not in use and avoid leaving them on standby;
  • Turn your central heating thermostat down by 1 degree- it could save up to 10% on your fuel bills;
  • Shut fridge and freezer doors and defrost regularly it will help improve them run more efficiently;
  • Always try to have a full load of washing in washing machines, dishwashers or tumble driers, if not try an economy or half load setting;
  • If you can- install a water butt to collect rain water, to use less water when flushing your toilet put a savaflush in the cistern, turn off the tap when washing your teeth, and arrange for leaking taps to be repaired;
  • Fit draught excluders especially over letter boxes.
