Leaseholder Services
A range of services are provided to leaseholders where a service
charge is applied.
What is a Service Charge?
A service charge is a payment made by leaseholders towards the
cost of providing and maintaining services to them.
The service charges are not limited to day to day
services. They include recovering costs of major work to the
structure of the building and shared areas of a block or
estate. Costs may be charged for the following services:
- shared lighting and heating
- repairs and maintenance to shared areas, such as hallways and
stairwells
- door entry systems and CCTV
- caretaking and gardening services
- maintaining the building structure
- buildings insurance
- managing the services
Your lease and other documentation you will receive when you
purchase a leasehold property contains information relating to what
is covered in your service charge and who is responsible for
certain aspects of the property along, with how to pay your service
charge.
