Leaseholder Services

A range of services are provided to leaseholders where a service charge is applied.

What is a Service Charge?

A service charge is a payment made by leaseholders towards the cost of providing and maintaining services to them.

The service charges are not limited to day to day services.  They include recovering costs of major work to the structure of the building and shared areas of a block or estate.  Costs may be charged for the following services:

  • shared lighting and heating
  • repairs and maintenance to shared areas, such as hallways and stairwells
  • door entry systems and CCTV
  • caretaking and gardening services
  • maintaining the building structure
  • buildings insurance
  • managing the services

Your lease and other documentation you will receive when you purchase a leasehold property contains information relating to what is covered in your service charge and who is responsible for certain aspects of the property along, with how to pay your service charge.
