How do I make a claim for Housing Benefit?

Contact Medway Council for a claim form unless you have made a claim for Job Seekers Allowance or Income Support.  Forms can be obtained from the Civic Centre Strood, Municipal Buildings Gillingham, Local Office Chatham, by telephoning 01634 332222 or by requesting a form on line.

What change of circumstances should I inform Housing Benefits of?

Generally you should inform Medway Council of any changes in income or savings, non dependants, children becoming 18, or absences of 13 weeks or more.  The rules are complex and will depend on your individual circumstances.

You should register your claim for benefit by telephoning the DWP on  0845 603 2953 and keep mhs homes informed.
