Types of Tenancy Agreement

Protected Assured Tenancy

If you were a council tenant when the housing stock was transferred to mhs homes in 1990, you are likely to have the Right to Buy your property, a protected rent in addition to the rights of an Assured Tenancy.

Assured Tenancy

Most tenants will have an assured tenancy which will set out repair responsibilities, how the rent increases, mutual exchanges and how mhs homes can take action against a breach of tenancy.

Trial Tenancy

New tenants of mhs homes are normally given a trial tenancy, and after 12 months if the tenancy has been conducted satisfactorily, the tenant will be given an Assured Tenancy. If the Tenancy Agreement has been broken we will seek to end your trial tenancy or delay changing it to an assured tenancy.

Assured Shorthold

These are usually granted for temporary accommodation only and are for a limited term.
