100% gas safety checks achieved
mhs homes has
successfully hit its target of achieving 100% gas safety,
confirming that every home checked in the past year complies with
gas safety regulations.
This result is a first for mhs homes and reaffirms the
strong commitment from the organisation to putting the safety of
residents first. Working with Swale Heating the organisation
ensured that annual visits were made to over 8000 homes to make
sure that boilers and gas fires were all working safely.
The checks are crucial to ensure resident safety, as across the UK
50 people die every year from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning
and 200 people are seriously injured.
To achieve 100% compliance, the property services team worked
closely with gas servicing contractor Swale Heating and mhs homes
neighbourhood managers and supported housing staff. By working
together, they were able to contact residents and gain entry into
every home to conduct the gas checks.
mhs homes Investment Manager, Steve Stratford, said: “Resident
safety is extremely important to us. We would like to thank all of
our customers for helping us by making their appointments and also
keeping them, their involvement is key to helping us make sure that
every home is compliant and that our gas appliances are checked as
in safe working order."
Dave Humphrey, Tenant Board Member said, “This is a good example of
effective partnership working between internal teams and
contractors to make sure the residents of mhs homes properties are
safe and getting a good service”.
