Development Design Guide Launched
mhs homes has launched a ‘Development Design
Guide’ The guide sets out our ethos on the design of new
homes, sustainability and the level of security for all future new
build developments.
The design guide was developed in partnership with leading
construction and property consultants ‘calfordseaden’ who have
written, designed and produced a professional document which has
been highly praised. The editorial content was written by Angela
Lemon, Partner, and the document itself was very professionally
designed by Alan Lamb, Graphic Designer. The team met with staff
from mhs homes and Medway Council, to produce the finished
guide.
The purpose of the design guide is to establish a minimum,
jargon free set of standards and requirements for architects,
consultants and contractors who work with mhs homes on new build
schemes. The aim is that use of the document will raise the bar in
terms of new affordable housing provision in Medway which
emphasises mhs homes commitment to high quality schemes, the
standard of which far surpasses that of building regulations.
Caroline Proverbs, Operations Director at mhs homes said “We
want to lead by example on new build design to ensure that
the quality of life of our residents and those living in our
neighbourhoods really is at the heart of what we do. We have worked
with ‘calfordseaden’ on this document and have consulted
extensively with staff, Medway Council and also very importantly,
existing residents. We feel the end result is an extremely well
presented, easy to use and informative document which will form the
basis of our development programme going forward.”
Angela Lemon, Partner of calfordseaden LLP said, “Working together
with mhs homes and their stakeholders, we have produced
a design guide that I believe everyone should be really proud
of. Thank-you to everyone involved for their contribution and
participation"
