Grand Charity Draw in aid of Macmillan
Three lucky winners received a total of £2250 between
them when they won the mhs homes grand draw. The raffle was
organised as part of the annual fundraising activity for the mhs
homes staff chosen charity for 2011 – Macmillan Cancer Support and
was made possible through a joint effort between business partners,
contacts, suppliers and staff of mhs homes.
The first prize of £1000 was donated by mhs homes and presented
to Paula and Kalvin Chakkar from Rochester by Ashley West, Chair of
the mhs homes group board. Paula and Kalvin have decided that the
money will be put towards Kalvin’s University fees.
The second prize was donated by Bernard Hurst of Hurst Building
Services. Bernard who lost a relative who died of cancer didn’t
hesitate when he was asked and immediately agreed to sponsor
the raffle. Bernard presented a cheque for £750 to Tina McKenzie
who works in Medway and lives in Swanscombe.
The third prize of £500 was donated by Dulux Trade and was
presented by Alan Allsop to Peter Moulden from Rainham.
Tickets were sold throughout the summer months to staff, suppliers,
partners and contacts of mhs homes and the top three winners were
drawn at the mhs homes Hollywood Ball in September.
An additional 37 lucky winners received prizes all of which were
donated by local businesses. The prizes included tickets to Dickens
World, afternoon tea at Chilston Park, Gift vouchers merchandise
from Invicta Dynamos, autographed books and lots more. The raffle
raised massive £7173 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Madeline Chainey, PR Manager at mhs homes said, “The
response received was absolutely amazing. So many people were
so very generous. I would like to thank all the businesses who
donated prizes for this raffle and all of the people who bought
raffle tickets."
