mhs provides teaching materials for secondary
schools
mhs homes has been working with the
Children’s Safety Education Foundation to provide teaching
materials for several secondary schools in Medway.
Booklets called "respect your life,
your choice," cover a variety of subjects from anti-social
behaviour to staying safe and are emphasised by using real life
reports from newspaper articles.
mhs homes has supplied booklets to
Year 7 and Year 8 pupils at St John Fisher and Thomas Aveling
School. Thelma Taylor from Thomas Aveling School said, "These
booklets are ideal for our younger pupils. They cover everything we
need and the topics are relevant to them. Some of the material we
receive from the NHS on drugs and alcohol prove to be far too
in-depth and not suitable for our younger pupils. These booklets
provide a very useful resource that help to explain the dangers in
a easy format."
Georgina Messenger, mhs homes,
Anti-Social Behaviour Officer said, "As part of our commitment to
the Government’s Respect Agenda we have sponsored these booklets to
help children understand the dangers within our community and how
to stay safe. The books are very user friendly and are proving to
be a success in reaching young people."
The Children’s Safety Education
Foundation exists to prevent children and young people from making
the wrong decisions in areas of risk and danger due to lack of
information, knowledge and understanding.
