mhs homes sign up to Respect Standard

Most people know what respect is. They know
how to behave and how to be considerate of others. A minority of
people however won’t abide by the common rules that most people
adhere to; they undermine the lives of the law abiding majority and
cause problems in our neighbourhoods.
The Government’s Respect Campaign sets out how
focusing on problem families, handing out tougher punishments for
persistent offenders and providing appropriate youth provision will
tackle antisocial behaviour.
mhs homes believe the only way to tackle
antisocial behaviour is by joint working with the police, local
authority partners and more importantly with residents themselves.
This will involve:
- regular and meaningful discussions
- accessible feedback sessions
- regular discussions updates
- informing residents about what have been
done
- publicising the use of enforcement tools such
as good neighbour agreements.
Charles Brangwin, Head of Housing said,
“I am really excited about signing up to
the Respect Standard. We are currently looking to appoint a
specialist anti social behaviour officer and look forward to
working with the community in helping to stamp out nuisance
behaviour in the Medway Towns."
Eileen Kenward, Tenant Board Member said,
“Signing up to this agreement is a
positive step we can welcome. Almost three thousand tenants have
already shown a commitment to their neighbourhood when they signed
up to become gold members. There are however a small minority of
people in our community who do not know how to conduct themselves
and together we aim to change their behaviour.”
