Staff complete Dartmoor challenge
Twelve members of staff have
trekked a tough 33 miles across the rugged terrain of
Dartmoor in just one day for our chosen charity, The Macmillan
Cancer Care Unit at Medway. They have raised over £2,000
and more money is still coming in.
The team of 12 staff
members including John Sands, Chief Executive, and
Ashley Hook, Housing Director, replicated the Royal Marines
challenge across wild terrain.
David Fradley from the Royal Marines
said, "We use Dartmoor as a training ground for recruits due to the
wild environment. No marine can receive their green beret without
completing this trek."
Charles Brangwin, Head of Housing
said: "Dartmoor threw everything it could at us from high winds,
heavy rain and very poor visibility throughout the walk. I am
pleased to say we all did it with varying levels of pain and
discomfort."
Madeline Chainey, PR Manager for mhs
homes said, "Members of staff have really picked up the gauntlet
and have gone all out to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care. Six
months into the year we have already raised £27,000. Anyone wanting
to help us reach £50,000 before the end of the year or who wants to
boost the coffers for the Dartmoor team can do so via the just
giving website, http://www.justgiving.com/mhshomes"
