As part of our commitment to the community, all of our colleagues spend one day a year volunteering at a local good cause. Colleagues can choose which charity or project they’d like to volunteer with.
The scheme has been running for more than seven years and during that time we’ve sold hundreds of poppies alongside the Royal British Legion, built sheds at Kingfisher Primary School, painted railings at Medway Maritime Hospital and lots more.
Since it started the scheme has given more than 1,500 days of volunteering time to local organisations and good causes. Our latest team to complete their Day for Kent is our Asset Investment Team.
The team of 10 carried out a number of tasks at Port Lympne, a breeding sanctuary for rare and endangered animals based in Hythe. They painted three safari trailers that are used to take visitors around the reserve.
"I’ve helped at an RSPB reserve and have also cleared a local churchyard before. I thought it’d be good to offer our help to Port Lympne this year and for the team to witness the very important work that Port Lympne does to protect endangered species. The Day for Kent programme allows the team to get together in an informal atmosphere to give something back to Kent. It really was a great day and we were rewarded with a safari tour around the park at the end."
