Thousands raised for mental health charity, through annual golf day

Our annual charity golf day has raised over £5,600 for Mind, our charity of the year.

It took place on Friday 3 May at Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Golf Club, and included a driving range, raffle, putting and chipping greens and a beat the pro competition. More than 90 golfers took part this year, with more people arriving for the evening dinner.

The golf day is one of our biggest fundraisers, and all of the money raised is given to our chosen charity at the end of the year.

This year's charity, Mind, was chosen by Hannah from our empty homes team. We’re hoping to raise as much money and support as we can, to help Mind to continue providing advice and support, to anyone experiencing a mental health problem.

"I was diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder in April last year. Anyone can suffer from mental health and part of us supporting Mind is about telling people that it’s ok not to be ok, you’re not alone. The money raised from the golf day will help people like me, who have or who might currently be struggling with their mental health, in need of some support and help." - Hannah Gwilt, charity representative

The money will help Mind to offer young people bereaved by suicide access to 1:1 support. It’ll also help them continue running wellbeing and community groups, provide a legal lifeline, send essential information booklets about mental health and more.

"We are so grateful to the staff at mhs homes who have raised an incredible £5,600 for Mind through their annual charity golf day. This donation will help fund our vital work, such as the Mind Infoline, information and advice services, and our campaigning to ensure everyone who has a mental health problem gets support and respect. Thank you mhs homes!" - Rebecca Hastings, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Mind

"We’d like to thank everybody who supported us; from the people who donated a raffle prize or sponsored a hole, to the people who helped on the day and the golfers themselves. We couldn’t do it without you. It was a great day and I’m so pleased to see we’ve been able to raise such a phenomenal amount of money that’ll help support people going through a mental health crisis." - Ashley Hook, Chief Executive at mhs homes said

Thank you to the people who supported us on the day, including Mr Clutch, Shepherd Neame, Apex Lifts, The Hideout, JCRA Group, Currell part of Savills Group, bptw, Batchelors, PSW, Mulalley, Pellings, Skillcrown and Calfordseaden.

Our next fundraiser will be a two-day canoe challenge, from Allington to Gillingham. If you'd like to support the challenge click here.
