After raising just under £22,000 in 2020, housing association mhs homes have announced that theyll be working with the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) for another year. 

Established in 2006, CALM is a nationwide charity that aims at heightening awareness around suicide, as well as raising funds for services dedicated to preventing it. They also run their own webchat and helpline seven hours a day, seven days a week which is free and confidential.  

mhs homes Chief Executive Ashley Hook said, Despite a challenging year, we’re hugely proud of the money and awareness we’ve been able to raise for CALM – a wonderful charity doing amazing work which is crucial now more than ever. 
 
Last year presented many obstacles and it was difficult to run fundraisers as we usually would, so by continuing our partnership with CALM it gives them a chance to receive the full potential of our support.” 

Every week 125 people in UK take their own lives. CALM relies on support and donations to give them the tools do their bit in helping lower suicide rate as much as possible and educate people on mental health. 

CALM Chief Executive Officer Simon Gunning said, “We’re delighted that mhs homes have chosen CALM as their charity of the year once againLast year mhs staff raised a phenomenal £21,842.66 towards our lifesaving services, which are needed more than ever. 
 
In the 10 months since the government announced the first lockdown, the CALM helpline answered 71,261 calls and chats, and directly prevented 253 suicides. Thanks to our partnership we will continue to provide free, anonymous and confidential support through our campaigns and lifesaving helpline, to lead a movement against suicide.
