New values unveiled at star-studded people conference

We were delighted to welcome Dame Kelly Holmes to help us launch mhs homes’ new values – PRIDE – at our annual people conference.

The conference, which was held at the Historic Dockyard Chatham, was a chance for everyone to come together to exchange ideas, celebrate achievements and have some fun.

Our leadership team began the day by talking about what our new values (Pride, Respect, Inclusion, Driven and Empathy) mean to them, and what we can all do to bring these values into our everyday behaviour.

Then it was time for some team building activities with a scavenger hunt around the dockyard and an arts and crafts session. A health and wellbeing workshop provided tips to help people identify and combat stress and work towards living their best life.

But the highlight of the day was a guest appearance by double Olympic gold winning athlete, Kelly Holmes. She gave an inspirational talk around our new values, with a focus on pride, inclusion and respect, and how her own achievements and experiences have shaped her.

Kelly went on to officially present Nigel Hopkins, chair of the mhs homes group board, with the Housing Diversity Network award. We’re very proud to have achieved this accreditation which highlights our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Wrapping up the conference, the leadership team presented some special awards to colleagues who’ve gone above and beyond in bringing our organisational values and behaviours to life.

The event was a great opportunity to build understanding of our new core values, how they shape us individually and collectively, and how we can make them real in our day-to-day behaviour and actions.

A big thanks to our partners Pillory Barn for supporting us with this fantastic event.
